How To Get Your Videos Found on Google – Part 2

In our last Video Lion, we started to talk about getting your videos found on Google, and we emphasized the importance of uploading them to YouTube. Now it is time to optimize your videos to make them easier to find. That is what we will talk about in today’s Video Lion.

So, you created your video and uploaded it to your YouTube Channel. Now it is time to optimize it. One important thing to know about video optimization is that the words around your video are the most important factor for Google’s algorithm to find and rank it.

So, the first and most important thing you need to do is give your video a title. No, not your company name… you should give it a name that uses keywords that people are looking for. For example, if you’re a business consultant in Westchester, NY, and this is a video about your services, the title should include the words “Business Consultant”, “Westchester NY”, and maybe “Fix Your Business Problems” – all this should come before your name or company name.

How do you know which keywords are popular? A great way to find out is using the Google Keyword Planner, which is free. Another very easy way is to simply type the words you want in the Google search bar. As you type, Google will give you keyword suggestions.

Next, you should always have a description to your video. Write a short blurb about the content of your video, and remember to use keywords here as well. Make sure to include a link to your website and any other important contact information in the description as well.

That’s it for today. But we’re not done with the optimization of your video. On our next Video Lion we will talk about transcripts and custom thumbnails.

See you at the next Video Lion!
