How-To Videos: Are They Good for Business?

When have you last watched a How-to video? I bet it wasn’t long ago. We all watch how-to videos, and the question is since we always talk about videos for business here, are how-to videos good for business? That is what we will check in today’s Video Lion.

The definition of a how-to video is simple. It’s “a video that teaches you how to do something”. That “something:” can be virtually anything, from how to fry an egg to how to build a rocket. An indisputable fact is, people LOVE to watch how-to videos. The question is why.

The first reason is the fact that most of us go online to look for answers to something we don’t know, and to learn something new. And when we do that, guess what will show up on the first page of that search? You guessed right: how to videos. In fact, according to Google, 86% of people say they regularly turn to YouTube to learn something new. And if we are talking about YouTube, still according to Google, How-To videos earn the most attention of any content category on YouTube.

The second reason is that people also look for how-to videos when they are looking to make a buying decision. To give you an example in just one single industry, according to Google (again!) 45% of beauty shoppers have watched a how-to video for inspiration before purchasing a product.

You probably know that video content works much better and attracts more attention than any written content but, on the other hand, the internet is inundated with video content. A great way to stand out of the crowd and break through the noise is to post How-To videos. So, the answer to the question, “are how-to videos good for business” is a resounding YES. You definitely should be creating this kind of videos for your business.
